Who am I...?
As a third generation engineer, attention to detail and customer service are part of my DNA. I served my apprenticeship in the 80’s and worked in manufacturing for over 3 decades. From making tea and toast to high speed rail and nuclear projects.
All technology aside, my dad taught me to sharpen knives and tools, and he was taught by his dad. It’s not only files and oil stones anymore but even with modern technology, the principles remain the same.
While steel is in my blood, the outdoors is my passion. Whether I’m hand carving spoons or pruning trees, my tools need to be razor sharp, a little care can make all the difference to a job well done.
What can I do for you…?
I run a mobile sharpening service in East Kent, I have regular rounds in the area so I am usually available inside a day or so.
My vehicle is a fully equipped sharpening workshop and my equipment runs on solar power so it’s very environmentally friendly.
I use a Sorby Pro Edge belt linisher, grinding wheels, polishing wheels, diamond, oil and traditional water stones, leather strops, cleaners and lubricants to ensure your knives and tools are perfectly prepared, sharpened, cleaned and oiled.

What now…?
1. Please take clear pictures of your items with your phone and send them to me on sean@seanssharpening.co.uk or 07960 655618 (WhatsApp/iMessage/Messenger etc are free).
2. I will then text you back with a free, no obligation quote (the price list above is a good guide), or I’ll call you to discuss your requirements further.
3. If you’d like to proceed I’ll arrange to visit you when I’m in your area, which is several times a week around Folkestone/Dover and weekly if farther afield.
4. I will sharpen your items in the mobile workshop and return them to you straight away. If it is more appropriate or convenient to take them away they will be returned to you by a pre-agreed time and date.
